Life will Break You!

Great life quote

“Life will break you. Nobody can protect you from that, and living alone won’t either, for solitude will also break you with its yearning. You have to love. You have to feel. It is the reason you are here on earth. You are here to risk your heart. You are here to be swallowed up. And when it happens that you are broken, or betrayed, or left, or hurt, or death brushes near, let yourself sit by an apple tree and listen to the apples falling all around you in heaps, wasting their sweetness. Tell yourself you tasted as many as you could.”

Message In A Bottle – Song Of the day

love this band

Feedback Theatre

The Police

The Police‘s very first number 1 hit in the UK, “Message In A Bottle” was released back in 1979 on the band’s second album Reggatta De Blanc. Fast-paced, led by a catchy hook and a story which continues throughout the whole song, the track then offers a break-like nostalgic chorus before riding back into action. Although the song inexplicably didn’t reach the Top 10 in the US back in the day, chances are, if you like Sting and/or The Police, this is one of your favourites. It definitely is for me.

Getting there from here: the first role for 2014 Best Actress nominees Amy Adams, Cate Blanchett, Sandra Bullock, Judi Dench, and Meryl Streep

liked what you did

The Context Of Things

I did this yesterday for Best Actor and it was interesting, so I’m going to go ahead and do it again for Best Actress. First thought: sheesh, loaded field. Bullock has an Oscar, Adams/Blanchett are stunning, Streep defines female acting over the past 20 years, and Judi Dench is like the den mother of this crew. Really strong. Just whoa. Let’s get into it.

Amy Adams

Interesting: her first appearance was apparently Drop Dead Gorgeous as Leslie Miller. She definitely looks younger here, no question.

FYI: you can argue the lead in that movie is Denise Richards. In 2014, if you said Amy Adams and Denise Richards were in the same movie, you’d probably get laughed at.

Cate Blanchett

Unsurprisingly, her first role is Australia-based. It was the 1993 series Police Rescue. This is the episode she was in:
